Dr. Mina Farahani
Dr. Farahani is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the diagnosis and management of disorders of the cornea and ocular surface. A Connecticut native, Dr. Farahani is happy to be back in New England after completing her ophthalmology training across the country. After completing her undergraduate degree in molecular and cell biology with honors, Dr. Farahani completed her medical training at Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Frankling University of Medicine and Science. She also earned two masters degrees, in biological sciences and healthcare administration during her years at RFU. Dr. Farahani then went on to complete an intern year at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, IL followed by her ophthalmology residency at the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, IL. During her very busy residency program, Dr. Farahani took care of many complex patient cases and was honored as Chief Resident and Resident of the Year. Dr. Farahani then went on to finish her training with a fellowship in cornea and refractive care at the University of California, Irvine. She spent 4 years working as a cornea specialist in Boston at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston, where she was also associate staff at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and Tufts Medical Center.
Dr. Farahani’s ophthalmic interests include the management of complex corneal disease including Fuchs endothelial dystrophy and limbal stem cell disease. Her research interests include neurotrophic keratitis, corneal transplantation, ocular surface disease, and meibomian gland dysfunction. She is a board-certified fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Farahani is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, where she serves on the board of the Young Eye Surgeons Committee. Dr. Farahani is also a member of Women in Ophthalmology and the New England Ophthalmological Society. She volunteers for the American Board of Ophthalmology where she administers the oral board examination to contribute to the next generation of practicing ophthalmologists. Dr. Farahani lectures to other eye care professionals locally and nationally on various anterior segment topics. She is passionate about patient education.
In her spare time, Dr. Farahani enjoys spending time, especially in the outdoors, with her husband, son, and dog. She loves to travel and explore new cuisines and restaurants with her family.
